The majority of parents of school-aged children make their home-buying decisions with their kids in mind. Livability.com recently released its 2014 list of the top 10 best cities for children and Boise, Idaho came out on top. Boise’s plentiful outdoor activities, good schools, low cost of living, and low crime rate were among the reasons the city topped the list.

Most Parents Make Home-Buying Decisions Around Their Kids

Your clients’ kids may be the key to their home-buying decision.

Seventy-nine percent of Millennial parents (between the ages of 18 and 34) and 70 percent of Generation X parents (between the ages of 35 and 49) make major purchasing decisions around their children, according to a survey of 2,000 parents by Coldwell Banker Real Estate. September Market Report: Easing Towards Winter

Single family home sales in September 2014 were 651 in Ada County, a decrease of 6% compared to September 2013. YTD total sales are down 5% compared to this time last year; 5,920 homes sold compared to 6,203.

In September, sales of homes priced above $200,000 showed increases in nearly every price category. Overall sales are continue to lag because sales of homes in the five categories priced below $159,999 are down anywhere from 1% ($160,000 to $199,999) to 200% (70,000 to $89,999).
